LUNA- or Lightweight Universal Notes Application- is a simple little project that i decided to make because i could not find a simple notepad app that i liked. furthermore, it's a  commemoration of sorts for my late holland lop rabbit, Luna, who passed away a few years back.

LUNA is in active development and is, at the moment, very light on features. i'm hoping to get more time to work on it soon, and want to add at least a few more simple features to it. please report any bugs that you may find along the way; i'd appreciate it!

planned features include: ability to export to more file types, markdown syntax highlighting, bold and italic text options for rtf,  and potentially different themes/customization options.

this is my first time making something like this, so any (constructive) feedback is welcome ^^ i know the app works on Windows, but i'm not sure if it will work or not on other platforms as of now. if anyone who has a mac or linux machine can get it to work on their device, let me know!

LUNA 1.4 now supports character counting, as well as rtf file support!

I've also had a lot of frustration finding good note apps, so I love to see projects like this. What are the pain points you're trying to solve with this one?

hiya, thanks for the comment! i'm working on this mostly because i pretty strongly dislike the built-in windows notepad. there's a couple reasons for this, but the most important pain points for me are:

1. tabs. tabs. tabs. i hate how the notepad built in to windows has tabs. i know it's useful for certain scenarios, but when i'm programming and outputting text files, it stacks up tabs REALLY fast. if the tabs went away when the program was closed, i wouldn't mind... but the tabs stay until you close them. thus, i end up having 50+ tabs on my notepad app oftentimes, and it's a pain in the rear end going through and closing them all, ESPECIALLY if the file was deleted since it was opened. instead of notepad closing that tab for you, you get an annoying pop-up when you try to close the tab, making it take even longer... so, i don't want LUNA to have tabs at all.

2. this may sound a little silly, but i want a notepad app that has at least a little bit of visual interest to it. not TOO much, but most notepad apps i've come across are a little too 'dry' for my taste.

3. i wanted to make something built for writing notes, but also isn't super packed with features. don't get me wrong, i love programs like obsidian, but sometimes i just want to jot down a quick digital sticky note of sorts.

thanks for your comment! i hope this answers your question; apologies that this is a little long-winded
